SATIVA Wellness’ pivot to Covid-19 testing work has exceeded expectations with plans afoot to open up a dozen new locations delivering blood tests, vaccines and vaccine boosters.
Previously known as The Sativa Group the name change to Sativa Wellness in October last year reflected its efforts in the fight against the pandemic.
One year in, its pivot to Covid-19 work is paying handsome dividends with testing work delivering in excess of £25,000 a day – total revenues from this work now top £1m.
It currently has 17 operational clinics from Wales in the West, to Essex in the East, including; Plymouth, Billericay, Bournemouth, Milton Keynes and Watford.
Vaccines and Vaccine Boosters
Speaking to BusinessCann interim CEO Geremy Thomas said: “We currently have 17 locations where we provide Covid-19 tests and we are looking take this up to 30 in the coming weeks.
“We are looking to continue undertaking Covid-19 tests – swabbing and PCR tests and tests for the Covid curious, too – as we all start travelling again.
“Then there is a market for those who want a test to see if their vaccines have worked and on from that on to the vaccines and vaccine boosters, in a B2B environment.”
When Covid hit this time last year Sativa moved quickly converting its manufacturing facilities to deliver cannabigerol (CBG) infused hand sanitisers and securing contracts with exclusive venues such as the The Birley Clubs and Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant chain.
It then converted sections of its two existing stores, in Bath and Bristol, into Covid-19 testing stations and, then, in April it partnered with 10 independent pharmacies to use their consulting rooms for Covid tests.
Mr Thomas went on to say that Sativa has secured approval from the relevant authorities to undertake the testing work and its Google marketing skills have has helped it deliver a steady flow of people to the venues.
He says it is bullish about the on-going potential of this work moving into the summer and the rest of the year.
Seed To Sale Business
Sativa is a seed-to-sale CBD and cannabis business which is currently undertaking a three-year trial on the healing properties of the plant with the Kings College London
It has extraction facilities in Poland, UK manufacturing facilities and testing facilities through its subsidiary PhytoVista Laboratories.
As well as white-labelling it has a number of retail brands including Goodbody Wellness, Goodbody Botanicals and Goodbody Hemp.
He added: “We have been on quite a journey in recent years moving from being a focused medical cannabis investment business on to being a broad-based wellness one.”
Its Novel Food process is under way as a member of the Association for the Cannabinoid Industry consortium. He believes this will benefit the whole industry and reassure the social media companies, such as Facebook, and the online retailers such as Amazon to ease their restrictions on the sector.
Mr Thomas founded Sativa and his family own 30% of its shares. It has listings on the Aquis Exchange in the UK, the Canadian Securities Exchange the Frankfurt Exchange and with the OTC Markets Group in the US. It has a market cap in excess of £18m.
In January Mr Thomas and his son George were appointed directors of Sativa Wellness, with Mr Thomas, senior, later appointed as Executive Chairman.
In addition to his role as Executive Chairman, he is currently interim CEO. Previous CEO Henry Lees-Buckley left the business last month.
